Basic Linux Commands for System/Linux Administrators

In this tutorial, we will describe the basic commands required for a Linux Administrator

# man

man command is used to check the manual of the command.

# ls

 ls command is used to list contents of a directory. The -l option enables long listing format as shown below:

You can also type ls -l in short as ll and both shows same output as shown below:

# cat

cat (short for “concatenate“) command is one of the most frequently used command in Linux/Unix like operating systems. cat command allows us to create single or multiple files, view contain of file, concatenate files and redirect output in terminal or files.
